$FRONTIER 2.62m dyor 0xb50e78f6567fbcd87b09b1c655252c1550031e18 okx wallet: Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei published an article arguing that the entire AI industry should voluntarily slow down the pace of frontier AI development so that safety measures can keep up. Simply put, he believes AI is advancing too quickly. In particular, models are already becoming capable of helping develop the next generation of models, creating the possibility of recursive self-improvement, where risks could soon exceed humanity’s ability to control them. The risks include loss of control over AI systems, large-scale cyberattacks, biological threats, and severe economic disruption. At the same time, he emphasizes that AI also has enormous potential benefits, such as potentially curing most major diseases within a few years and dramatically accelerating economic growth. So he is not calling for AI development to stop completely, but rather to “hit the brakes” and control the pace. He also proposed a three-step plan: - Embedded third-party evaluations Anthropic has already taken steps in this direction by incorporating independent external assessments. - Coordination among companies in democratic countries With government support, companies should coordinate on unified safety standards and capability limits. - Global coordination This would include discussions with countries such as China to establish limits on dangerous uses, testing standards, and potentially even restrictions on the speed of AI self-improvement.
We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our s

He thinks AI is already getting too close to the danger zone. Voluntary transparency is not enough anymore. We actually need to slow down how fast we keep making models stronger.
